The idea we want for main characters is as follows:
The main protagonist is to be a child (boy). Set during world war two, the boy is taken away from the city where he lives and thrust into the arms of a protective family in the welsh countryside. The imagination of a child is a wild one and taking a lot of influence from stories such as Alice in wonderland, the idea that the child falls through the roots of a tree and into the world of the microscopic (much like a borrower's world). The roots of trees are like the toes of a giant and a hazel can be used as the roof of a house.
In this new world he meets two other characters in his travels which assist him in various battles that are carried out along his adventure. The storyline and characters are based (with a twist) on the characters of the Mabinogion. In particular a bard-like character whom tells tales and travels with his gigantic backpack that he keeps all of his worldly possessions in, and a beautiful woman made from flowers.
